Do you remember what seems to be just awhile ago that almost everyone wanted to go with a pharmaceutical sales or medical device start up company?  You know, the place you go where they can give you a good base pay and forgo the commission for the real big bucks when the company was sold or maybe, just maybe became a star in their own right? 

Well hot new medical sales start ups were waning by mid 2008 and now, reflecting back, almost one of the riskiest things to do from 2005 through 2008!  If it was risky back when money was flowing, then I don’t need to tell you how risky it is to go with a start up in todays environment!  Then again, perhaps I do need to review “the why” since I still receive calls monthly from people wanting to know if they should entertain a start up.  Here are the factors you should consider FIRST: (more…)

You all call and ask, “I am finding a few jobs out there, and even getting to the final interview, only to find out I did not get the job; WHAT’S GOING ON?”.

   I felt compelled to write an article this week about the calls and stories we have been receiving from many of you, sales representatives and sales managers alike.  Many of you have been through the wringer, sitting by your home office phone, as instructed by your company, waiting for your scheduled call from your HR Department or immediate manager; the call where you will be told if you will be one of the lucky ones who keeps your job.   If you are one of the “lucky ones”, you then quickly realize that your company is only in phase one out of two or three phases of layoffs scheduled!  You quickly realize you will be sitting by that phone praying perhaps a few more times before April 1st.
